Welcome to Maasai Kajiado Women Dairy Cooperative Society

Empowering Women. Nourishing Communities. Sustaining Futures.

At MKWDCS, we are more than a cooperative — we are a movement led by resilient Maasai women who believe in the power of unity, hard work, and shared prosperity. Rooted in Kajiado and driven by our passion for sustainable agriculture, we bring women together to create meaningful change through milk, honey, poultry, and community service.

We started humbly — under a tree in Ilbissil — and have grown into one of the most impactful women-led cooperatives in the region, now serving over 400 members across Kajiado County.

What We Do

We promote women’s economic empowerment by supporting sustainable dairy production, poultry farming, and honey harvesting. Our services go beyond production — we invest in water access, training, and leadership development so our members can thrive in business and life.

A Unique Journey

From a group of women selling milk under a tree to a cooperative processing over 60,000 litres of milk daily — our journey is a testament to what women can achieve when they come together. What began as a humble effort to support families and create an income has grown into a strong and vibrant movement that empowers women, uplifts communities, and transforms lives. Along the way, we have faced challenges of access to markets, limited resources, and cultural barriers, yet every obstacle has fueled our determination. Through unity, resilience, and innovation, we have built not just a dairy enterprise but also a symbol of hope and progress for future generations.

Rooted in the rich Maasai culture, our journey also represents a shift in tradition — where women are not only caregivers but also leaders and entrepreneurs. By transforming milk into a reliable source of income, Maasai women are reshaping the narrative of their communities and inspiring younger generations to dream bigger.

Why It Matters

Behind every litre of milk or jar of honey is a woman improving her family’s future. Every project we run strengthens food security, income generation, and women’s voices in decision-making — all while preserving the rich culture of the Maasai people.

What we stand for

Women’s Empowerment

We believe in the strength, leadership, and potential of rural women. By giving them the tools, training, and platforms to lead, we are transforming livelihoods from the ground up.

Sustainable Livelihoods

Through dairy, honey, poultry, and eco-friendly practices, we promote sustainable farming that protects the environment while ensuring steady income for our members.

Community-Driven Growth

Our roots are in the community. Every initiative, service, and partnership is guided by the real needs of local families — building a future where no one is left behind.

Our Vision for the Future

"We envision a self-reliant and thriving community of women farmers who lead the dairy industry in Kajiado and beyond, driving change through innovation, integrity, and shared purpose."

Our dream is to see every woman empowered with the knowledge, tools, and resources to contribute meaningfully to the growth of her household and the community at large.

We aspire to expand our reach by processing more milk, introducing high-quality value-added products, and opening new markets both locally and internationally. Beyond dairy, we aim to diversify into complementary agribusiness ventures that strengthen food security and create lasting wealth for our members.

At the heart of our vision is sustainability — building systems that not only uplift the present generation but also create opportunities for those to come. Through collective action, education, and partnerships, we seek to position Maasai Kajiado Women Dairy as a model cooperative that inspires transformation across Kenya and the wider region.

At the heart of Maasai Kajiado lies a vibrant force — women transforming their lives and communities through hard work and purpose. From milking their cows at dawn to harvesting honey and raising poultry, the women of MKWDCS are not just producers; they are community builders and change-makers.
